Disclosure Announce first London live shows in 7 years
Revisiting Heaven, Brixton Academy
and Alexandra Palace
During Disclosure’s headline set at Reading Festival this weekend (their second headline for the event) – the Lawrence brothers announced details of their own headline live dates since they toured their second album ‘Caracal’ at the end of 2015, which ended with 3 sold out shows at Alexandra Palace.
Initially focusing in on London, the city which harboured and homed the boys as their career took off when they were just 16 and 18 over a decade ago, the shows cover three key and varying sized venues across the capital. First up is the legendary Heaven on March 2nd, Brixton Academy on March 4th and Alexandra Palace on March 5th – replicating the stepping stones of Disclosure’s meteoric live trajectory over a few short years.
In the early days Guy and Howard spent many a weekend playing tiny venues that embraced the diverse electronic/dance music scene bubbling all over the city at the time, which evolved into them DJing in clubs alongside their fledgling live show. Things became easier once Howard turned of legal age to actually be in clubs of course, and they quickly embraced the unique and widely celebrated club culture those days had to offer. As their popularity increased, so did their live set up and DJing prowess.
Given the closure of all live venues since the start of the pandemic, as with all musicians, Disclosure haven’t had the opportunity to play in any live setting for some time. Their latest album ‘ENERGY’ was yet to be played to a live audience until this headline slot at Reading & Leeds this weekend. Now fans get the chance to hear the Grammy nominated record in a far more direct and intimate live environment as they take the show to three key venues in London that have played a part in their career over the years.
Their third studio album ENERGY was released to much global acclaim in August 2020 and featured top end collaborators jumping on stand out singles such as ‘Watch Your Step’ featuring Kelis (HERE), title track ENERGY (HERE), the Grammy nominated ‘My High’ featuring Aminé and slowthai (HERE), the globally unifying and uplifting ‘Douha (Mali Mali)’ (HERE) and the R&B infused swagger of ‘Birthday’ featuring Kehlani & Syd (HERE) – all of which showcase the versatility and innovation harnessed by these two young, songwriters and producers.
Tickets for these shows go on sale Thursday, September 2nd at 10:00am HERE.
