The Manchester based quartet exude youthful positivity with impossibly expansive and high-energy songwriting. Not subscribing to any particular genre, exploring pop, r’n’b, funk and jazz – they have received early support from the likes of The Guradian, NME, DIY, Line Of Best Fit, Dork and Clash alongside Steve Lamacq, Mary Anne Hobbs, Chris Hawkins and Lauren Laverne – resulting in multiple BBC 6 Music playlists. Love from Jack Saunders, Clara Amfo, Sian Eleri, Gemma Bradley and Greg James at BBC Radio 1 including ‘Introducing Track Of The Week’ and recently recorded a session at the world famous Maida Vale Studios. Matt Wilkinson at Apple 1 has supported from early on premiering ‘Ego and’ making his ‘Breaking Track’ and John Kennedy claiming the band as his ‘Big One’ on Radio X.
The Oat gang sold out their recent headline September 2021 tour including ‘Corsica Studios’ and the infamous Manchester hang out ‘The White Hotel’. Have already sold out their November 2021 London Electrowerkz show and Wet Leg support at The London Omeara and Manchester’s YES venue, supported Cory Wong at Manchester O2 Ritz prior to lockdown and have plans under way for further touring and festivals in spring 2022, along with their biggest headline show to date, at London’s renowned ‘Heaven Nightclub’.
Eggy (vocal and keys), Tommy (vocal and guitar), James (bass) and Tom (drums) all currently studied in Manchester. They write, record and produce their modern alternative pop sounds in their Oat Factory – each member recording parts in their separate studios/bedrooms and then merging the sounds together meticulously, to form their distinctive “Oat” sound.
